Case Study: GUMOTEX and a Barcode Data Collection Solution with Algotech Data Compact Collector

Initial Situation and Challenge

As part of upgrading the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP system to version 9.2, GUMOTEX decided to digitalize and streamline data collection processes in manufacturing and logistics. Until then, employees entered data manually into the system only after completing tasks. This led to delays, frequent inaccuracies, and a lack of up-to-date information needed for operational management. GUMOTEX therefore sought a way to automate data collection to speed up and improve the accuracy of ERP transactions.

Solution

Algotech implemented the Algotech Compact Data Collector (ACDC) solution, enabling real-time data processing directly in production halls and warehouses with immediate synchronization to the enterprise system Oracle JD Edwards.

ACDC connects warehouse and production workers directly to the ERP system. Every transaction is instantly recorded, eliminating the need for manual entry or paper-based tracking.

The solution runs on mobile scanning devices, allowing fast barcode scanning in daily operations. All applications are customized to specific processes and roles, ensuring a highly user-friendly experience.
 

Implementation and Operation

The project began with a pilot deployment of ACDC, developed and tested directly in the customer’s production environment in 2017. It was successfully launched into full production on January 1, 2018.

Today, ACDC is fully integrated across the entire GUMOTEX group:

• 5 production plants
• More than 800 employees
• Over 145 industrial mobile devices running ACDC for JD Edwards
• More than 70 processes handled directly via mobile terminals
