Data protection is still the number one issue in today's technological age. Since the General Regulation, which regulates this issue, affects all companies worldwide, it is necessary to prepare training for your employees to inform them about their rights and obligations arising from it. But how often should you organise such training and how should you conduct it? Today's article will answer these questions.
Employee training is an integral part of GDPR implementation. You inform your employees about how personal data is processed, legislative changes and familiarize them with related documentation. But the question is when and how often to serve them this information.
GDPR training can be part of the onboarding procedure or can take the form of regular training. If you decide to train your employees as soon as they join the company, you will give them all the latest information on GDPR issues. However, such information may not reach employees who are not already new recruits. In the second case, you risk leaving out the company's newcomers, whose start date may not be until after the training.
The solution? Combine both of these options. Ensure that all employees who come into contact with personal data are trained as soon as they start. At the same time, organise regular training sessions to inform about legislative changes and raise awareness of data protection among employees.
You can hardly persuade your employees to read the entire General Data Protection Regulation. A much better form of employee training is a company training or e-learning course. In the end, it doesn't matter which form you choose - it's more important to actually convey the information. Otherwise, you put your company at risk of fines. Take a look at the biggest blunders in GDPR history.
This option is suitable for companies that want tailored training for their employees. The advantage of corporate training is the direct interaction with the trainer, which allows you to discuss GDPR, ask questions and look at the whole issue in more depth outside the standard curriculum. The corporate training option is also appreciated by businesses that operate in industries with specific conditions.
This is often a quick and inexpensive option to train your employees without the need for a physical presence. This option is therefore appreciated if you work with outsourcers who also process the personal data of subjects. You can take the course from the comfort of your office or home.
