Together with IT specialists from Škoda Auto, we have developed a more modern version of the application, which is crucial for dealers and service centres. What was our task?
The DMS (Dealer Management System) application helps Škoda Auto dealers to manage and keep track of the life cycle of all vehicles. Currently, almost all authorised Škoda dealers and service centres in the Czech Republic and Slovakia use this system. Over time, however, there has been a need to update this original system from 2002 and create a new more modern version to meet the needs of car dealers.
We at Algotech have started to work together with IT specialists from ŠKODA AUTO to develop the new version of the application. Together, we were tasked with creating a new version that will take the form of a modern web application. For a while, the company's representatives considered creating a completely new system, but a functional and financial analysis eventually decided in favour of developing the existing DMS.
The DMS upgrade was launched in 2016 and it was also the reason why the system was later selected as the main tool for managing the dealer network of the SAVWIPL importer in the Indian market. While developing the application, the needs of the dealers of the Group's car brands in India were also taken into consideration, which vary due to the different market. IT specialists from ŠKODA AUTO and Algotech, as well as from the VWITS Software Delivery Center in India, collaborated on the development.
"We want the salesperson not to have to switch between several systems when communicating with the customer and to be able to fully focus on the customer. In other words, to have one application that contains all the necessary tools in one place and the necessary integrations to other systems will be handled automatically (in the background), without the need for user intervention," says Vladimír Pulchart, IT project manager at ŠKODA AUTO.
